Dear members of the Gulf Coast Association for Pupil Transportation,
It is my extreme pleasure to serve as your President for the 2008-2009 school year. I know this year will find our organization focused in both principles and activities while supporting the overall purpose of the Texas Association for Pupil Transportation.
I, along with all of the other officers, look forward to seeing and visiting with all of you at our monthly meetings and other events such as the Fifth Annual Winter Conference and Trade Show and School Bus Safety Road-e-o.
Our primary form of communicating information to the membership will be the Gulf Coast Association for Pupil Transportation website (www.gcapt.org), however we will continue to use email to notify the membership of changes or emergency information that may arise. The site is maintained by Jaime Gallego with information supplied by our Chapter Secretary, Andrea Williams. Please share with us any changes that would make this site more useful to you. As information becomes finalized for upcoming events, monthly chapter meetings, etc. it will be placed on the GCAPT website…so check us out often!
We have already set the date and begun the planning for our Fifth Annual Winter Conference and Trade Show! Our conference will be Friday, February 20, at the South Shore Harbour Resort and Conference Center in League City. The Saturday conference will allow attendees the freedom to register for TAPT Certification classes which will be held on Saturday and Sunday, February 21 and 22. If you have ideas in mind of presentation topics, workshop ideas, etc., please contact us so that we can make YOUR conference meet your needs!
We encourage all members to reach out to your neighboring districts – invite someone to attend a chapter meeting and become a registered member who has never joined us before…especially from districts with no current representation in our chapter! Furthermore, our chapter is only the beginning – membership and certification at the state level await you with the Texas Association for Pupil Transportation. As your Area Director for 2008-2009, I am available to address or discuss any issues or questions you may have regarding the state-level organization, so feel free to come to me.
Please bring any questions or concerns to your Chapter officers so we may best meet your needs and possibly those unspoken needs of your colleagues in the membership.
I wish all of you a great school year and look forward to visiting with all of you throughout the yea
Keith A. Kaup
